Tosh Style Journal is an independent hair, style and live-events journal for Portsmouth and Southsea. We are not a salon, we take no bookings and we are not affiliated with any hairdresser. This page explains how we deal with venues, makers, brands and anyone else who would like to appear in our pages, so readers know exactly where they stand.
Our editorial principles
- No disguised advertising. We do not publish paid placements dressed up as editorial. If we ever carry anything commercial, it will be clearly labelled as such.
- No invented reviews. We don't publish testimonials, star ratings or product verdicts we cannot stand behind. Our product pages explain ingredients and hair types rather than endorsing brands.
- No salon prices. Our Price Guide explains what tends to affect the cost of a service in general UK terms. We do not quote or compare the prices of real salons.
- Facts checked against sources. Venue pages draw on published history and official information. If something is wrong, we want to hear about it.
Venues and event organisers
Live events are a big part of what we cover, from theatre nights at the Kings Theatre on Albert Road to match days at Fratton Park. If you run or programme a venue in Portsmouth or Southsea, we're happy to receive news about:
- Upcoming gigs, shows, comedy nights and exhibitions
- Changes to access, entry or visitor arrangements that readers should know about
- Corrections to anything we have published about your venue
Sending news does not guarantee coverage, and coverage is never conditional on payment. We choose what to write about based on what we think readers will find useful.
Local makers and independents
Southsea has a strong independent scene, particularly around Albert Road and Palmerston Road. If you make hair accessories, run a vintage stall or organise style-related events locally, tell us what you're doing. We may mention it where it fits naturally into an article, but we won't write promotional copy on your behalf.

Email hello@andrewtosh.net with a short summary, the date and location of any event, and a link to official details. Please don't send attachments larger than you need to. We read everything but cannot always reply individually.
